The Savage Gear Micro Skipper Papalina lure really is one of a kind. It is not a spoon and neither a metallic jig. Compared to jigs made of lead, the Micro Skipper is lighter, but bulkier. Its weight combined with its uniquely asymmetric body shape, it produces a tricky swimming stance which can not be imitated by other metal lures.

It is a micro skipping lure that has been designed for crazy topwater, skipping action.

It casts like a turbocharged rocket and once it touches the surface it immediately starts making lots of small slaps with a simple, steady retrieve. Its as easy as that.

Cast it out a few times and youll be catching Aji, Saddled bream, Mackerel, Needle fish, Sea bass and just about any other topwater saltwater predator in no time. Its range includes two models at 5 and 9 gr covering Heavy Rock Fishing and Spinning.

This style of spinner, when on the move, mimics a small baitfish that swims quickly and flashes erratically. It is armed with a strong treble hook with reaction tinsels that mimic a small fish tail.

One can use the Savage Gear Micro Skipper very easily, just like a spoon. It can be casted really far and then simply retrieve it at a steady pace, alternating the retrieval speed and allowing it to move either on a horizontal axis, or let it sink and retrieve it again. Feel free to experiment by jerking and twitching it just like a jig. Try “Slow Fall”, “Irregular Darting”, Twitching, or Jerking and decide on your favorite action. During a slow and steady retrieve, when the Micro Skipper meets the water current, an unexpected imbalanced action occurs, that provokes the response of nearby predators. In addition, if you try a high speed retrieval with the rods tip pointing upwards, you will easily create a skipping effect of a panicked, top water jig. Depending on the technique you will use, you can target different species with the Micro Skipper.

Seabass Slow and steady retrieve, with lift & fall

Saddled Seabream Steady retrieve with splashing on the surface

Red Sea Bream – Slow to steady retrieve, close to the bottom

Migrating species – High-speed retrieve and skipping, panic action close to the surface with flashy actions, such as jerking and twitching are recommended.
