Jackson managed to develop a heavy lure at 12cm/33gr and 14cm/40gr which has impressive casting properties, but can maintain their action in a slow retrieve speed, without snagging in the bottom. On the contrary the Jackson Athlete SSP lures, hover above the bottom.

The Athlete SSP has been designed to be rear weighted, as in Japan it targets Flatheads and Flounder, however it features remarkable differences to other Sinking Pencils. The casting posture remains stable despite its big body size, and its trajectory resembles compares to metal jigs.

Once in the water it drops down to the bottom quickly and swims smoothly with a rolling action, which changes to wobbling action with a faster retrieve. The action can be felt easily through the rod tip.

Jackson has rigged the Athlete SSP with 3 trebles, as not to miss any strikes and due to its casting ability and action it is also capable of catching Blue fish and Seabass too.
