The Snapper Tenya EX171 jig is a combination of two styles, ie Free Slide and Tenya. The Snapper Tenya, consists of an asymmetric, polyhedral jig, with hydrodynamic shape, that enables quick sinking, plus two pre-rigged, Hayabusa assist hooks, of different size.
The EX171 is the new, improved version of the FD jig, for the Hitotsu Tenya fishing style. Hayabusa continues to explore the deep sea and aims to improve on existing fishing styles. That was the case with the Hitotsu Tenya FD SE108 jig.
The Hitotsu Tenya style, was initially intended for fishing of Red Snappers and Black Seabreams, fish which is clearly smaller in size, however it was observed that this particular technique, also activated fish such as Dentex, Pink Dentex and Red Snappers, only much larger than expected. So Hayabusa decided to modify the Hitotsu Tenya FD SE108, to correspond better to the actual catches and developed the Hayabusa Snapper Tenya EX171. In essence, it kept the primary features of the Hitotsu Tenya jigs intact and the efficient head, but changed the Assist hooks with stronger and different type (kirbied), capable of penetrating the hard jaws of large predators.
The assist hooks are light weight with a highly penetrating tip. You might think that the hooks with which they are rigged, are small, just like in the past with the Kick Bottom jigs. The reason is simple. If the hook is small in size, it does not affect the weight of the bait and allows the bait to be directly sucked, regardless of its size. The small hooks have become very popular in Japan and because of their incredible, penetrating capacity, they might catch the fish from everywhere, such as cheeks, lips, etc.
Their unique feature is that the jigs head, is not tied to the braid, but moves free along the line (Free Slide). The head sinks first, followed by the rigged bait, a motion that is totally natural. As the head sinks, the bait is left behind and sinks at a slower pace. Then and after the jig head sits at the bottom, we retrieve the bait, which begins to approach the jig, producing a natural motion and causing the predators reaction.
Hayabusa observed that a smooth and natural descent of a jig can be achieved, when the shape of the jig is hydrodynamic and does not meet intensive water resistance. The falling motion of the Hayabusa jigs provides no discomfort to the prey, since the head sinks first and the live bait follows. The bait appears natural and lures even weary fish. The Snapper Tenya are of Japanese origin, sliding Tenya jigs, with multiple sides and corners, that expose its volume from any angle and allow them to sink quickly to the bottom. Their 3D eyes and impressive colors will certainly make an impact.
The Hayabusa Snapper Tenya is a versatile jig, that has many advantages and can be used in numerous fishing styles, depending on the depth and changes in the current. You can do normal vertical fishing, as well as lateral fishing. This unique characteristic makes it an ideal jig for usage in shallow areas. The hydrodynamic shape of the Hayabusa Snapper Tenya, makes it a sinking & casting compatible model. It has a low center of gravity and due it design and movement it stays longer near the bottom, in the strike zone.
One of the most popular baits for Hitotsu Tenya FD is a fresh shrimp, hence it attracts Dentex, Red Snappers and Groupers. But feel free to experiment with small baitfish, or a strip of squid. Since the fresh bait moves freely, without being compromised by the weight of the head, their movement is absolutely natural, as the predators in the area will perceive. But when attacked, the head which lies in the bottom, does not allow the easy removal of the bait.
Once hooked, the fish has no chance to escape.
The Hayabusa Snapper Tenya are available in four different colors and two different sizes. Hence there is one for every scenario.
