The metal storage box contains:

– a whetstone from the Pyrenees for sharpening the blades. To be used wet, with a 20 degrees angle with the blade

– a can of oil for lubricating and seasoning the entire knife

– a 20 x 20 cm microfibre cloth for wiping after maintenance

The oil for nourishing and greasing Opinel products is a plant-based (vegetable) oil, that is ideal for maintaining your Opinel knives and more. The Opinel maintenance oil is used to grease blades and ferrules and to nourish handles, as well wooden cutting boards.

It’s easy to use. After cleaning and drying the knife with a soft, dry cloth, simply apply a few drops of oil to a cloth and rub the blade and ferrule. Wait until the blade is dry before closing it.

Handles should be greased evenly everywhere with a few drops of oil applied to a cloth.
